| So you’re a little bored with your
girlfriend, your mom doesn’t approve of how you’re
raising your kid, or the grass looks a little more exciting
on the seamier side of the fence – why not raise a little
hell, launch into an ill-considered three-some, or hey, rob
a bank!
But, can you trust these strangers you’ve just hitched
yourself too?
Directed by the late Joesph Viszmeg (Gemini Winner) this
feature shows a side of life in Edmonton that your average
Oilers fan doesn’t immediately think of – we hope.
Perhaps it is because this film goes against the usual grain
of prairie realism that the French government chose to include
it in their 80-year Canadian cinema retrospective.
And, if you can’t bring the audience to the cinema,
bring the cinema to the audience --- 2000 paying customers
saw it in a tent at the Edmonton Fringe Theatre Festival.
Innovation at your service.
City of Champions was chosen for a retrospective of Canadian
cinema, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; won 3rd prize, Houston
International Film Festival; screened at the Montreal International
Film Festival.
